Overview

We give the Miele Futura Dimension G 5675 SC dishwasher (G 5675 SCSF & G 5675 SCVi) an A- because it is exceptionally quiet and energy efficient while still providing a superior clean. It also offers a very flexible rack storage system, so you can maximize its useable capacity. As a brand, Miele has an excellent reputation and its dishwashers have received great feedback industry professionals. While we had to deduct points because of its price, we still highly recommend this dishwasher (or any Dimension dishwasher) if you can afford it and don't mind cleaning the filters every once in a while.

Specifications

Cleaning Technology

The Miele G 5675 SC dishwasher is part of its popular Futura Dimension line and is the updated model of the G 5575 SC. ENERGY STAR® rated, it uses 285 kWh/year and Miele estimates that it will cost about $23 a year to run (estimate based on a natural gas water heater, four loads/week and average electricity prices from 2007). The G 5675 SC features three spray arms and a triple filtration system that requires manual cleaning but provides for superior cleaning performance with less noise and wasted energy. For enhanced energy efficiency, it also features Miele's innovative AutoSensor technology, which automatically adjusts the length and intensity of the wash cycle based on the contents Rof the load. Additionally, it is designed with Miele's Double WaterProof System, which will shut off water to the dishwasher immediately if a leak or blockage is detected. Lastly, to help improve overall cleaning results, the G 5675 SC comes equipped with a completely stainless steel tub, an automatic water-softening system and built-in rinse aid dispenser.

The G 5675 SC has six wash cycles including "Normal", "Pots & Pans", "China & Crystal", "SaniWash" (wash/sanitize), "Extra Quiet" (reduces noise by 20%), and "Rinse & Hold" (rinsing items in between complete cycles). If you want to reduce the cycle time by 30%, you can also select "Turbo" mode, or, if you want a heavier wash on the lower rack but a gentler wash on the upper rack, you can select "Intensive Mode". Miele does not provide approximate cycle times for different wash programs. However, Consumer Reports says that a normal cycle will run for about 150 minutes. In terms of the dry cycle, the default is a heated dry, but the dishwasher features energy efficient SensorDry technology. SensorDry uses sensors to monitor internal temperature and moisture levels and automatically adjusts the cycle accordingly. Additionally, the dishwasher uses the CleanAir™ Drying System, which uses the natural heat retention and water-condensing properties of the stainless steel tub to effectively and hygienically dry the entire load. Air is drawn into a sealed external chamber where it is heated, condensing/evaporating dishwater against the dishwasher's walls without contaminating the load. When the cycle is completely done, the dishwasher door will open automatically open to air dry more difficult surfaces like plastic.

Rack System

The Futura Dimension G 5675 SC is designed with Miele's FlexiCare Premium basket configuration and 3D Cutlery Tray, and it can fit up to sixteen place settings. The racks can be adjusted in multiple ways to accommodate almost any type of load and even the most delicate items. The lower rack has two rows of foldable tines, and it can fit a total of three rows of dishes (up to 35cm high). It also features 2 height-adjustable supports for glassware along the sides of the rack. The entire upper rack is height-adjustable, has foldable tines, large hinged cup racks and a rail for long-stemmed glassware (also height-adjustable). The 3D Cutlery Tray can be lowered in the center to fit larger utensils, and it can also be pushed in on the sides to accommodate exceptionally tall glassware in the upper rack.

Features

The Futura Dimension G 5675 SC has a fully-integrated (concealed) LED control panel where you can program a wash cycle, delay the cycle's start (up to twenty-four hours) and check a current cycle's status/time remaining. It also has a child lock and will indicate when it is time to fill up the rinse aid/salt or if there is another problem with the dishwasher. Miele won't assign decibel levels to its dishwashers but instead rates them on a level between Q1 – Q5 (with Q5 being the quietest). Miele dishwashers are known for being exceptionally quiet in general, and this Dimension model is rated a Q3. Miele argues that the decibel level would change based on the load and wash cycle, but Consumer Reports estimates the noise to be around 44 – 46 dB.

Exterior Style

The Futura Dimension G 5675 SC comes in a prefinished model (G 5675 SCSF), but the only available finish is Clean Touch Steel™, which is a scratch- and smudge-resistant stainless steel. Alternatively, this model can also be fitted with a custom panel (G 5675 SCVi) to match surrounding cabinetry. The door has a full-length bar handle and is designed with ComfortClose technology, so it is easy to open/close and will stay put when open at any angle.

Brand Reputation

Family-owned and operated, Miele is very reputable German appliance manufacturer. While its household appliances come with a high price tag, they are also designed to be higher quality, and, as a brand, it has received numerous accolades from experts in the industry over the years. Most notably, it has consistently received excellent ratings in overall customer satisfaction from J.D. Power & Associates (ex. 2013, 2012, 2011 & 2010). Additionally, the G 5575 SC, the previous model to the G 5675 SC, was rated 80/100 (highest was 85) in a Consumer Reports test, and Miele dishwashers in general were found to among the least repair-prone compared to other major manufacturers. If you have delicate glassware, you can also feel confident washing them in your Miele dishwasher as Miele is recommended exclusively by Riedel. This particular model has a pretty typical 1-year limited warranty, but it also comes with a 90-day satisfaction guarantee with a full refund. Given this and that Miele dishwashers are designed to last for 20 years, we'd definitely recommend the G 5675 SC or any model in the Dimension series to anyone who can afford to pay the up-front cost.
