You can purchase PERSA-GEL 10 at your local drugstore or online at www.shopcleanandclear.com for about $6.49.

Product Report Card Grade

We give Clean & Clear’s Persa-Gel 10 a B+ because it is a very effective and affordable OTC acne treatment for mild to moderate acne. It is almost like getting a prescription-grade medicine without taking a trip to the dermatologist. We had to deduct points, however, because many customers felt that the gel was drying and were annoyed that the Benzoyl Peroxide bleached any fabric that it touched.

How It Works
Benzoyl Peroxide increases cell turnover to unclog pores and destroys acne-causing bacteria below the surface of your skin to eliminate and prevent future breakouts.
Releases wavelengths of blue light that penetrate deep into your skin to kill acne-causing bacteria, P. acnes, and soothe inflammatory acne vulgaris. Basically, within P. acnes bacteria, there are small molecules known as porphyrins. When exposed to 420 nm and shorter wavelengths of light, porphyrins generate free radicals that attack and kill P. acnes bacteria.
Powerful MicroClearâ„¢ technology helps the key acne medicine, salicylic acid, unclog congested pores and penetrate deep under the surface of your skin to fight acne at its source. At the same time, the unique formula contains moisturizers to hydrate and soften skin, as well as calming ingredients to reduce redness and irritation.

Reputation

CLEAN & CLEAR PERSA-GEL 10 receives good reviews on Totalbeauty.com (7.4/10 out of 229 reviews), on Drugstore.com (3.8/5 out of 115 reviews) and on Amazon.com (3.9/5 out of 51 reviews). Most of the negative reviews had to do with how drying the medication can be. Paula Begoun, a skincare and cosmetics expert who conducts reviews on products using scientific research, found Persa-Gel 10 was "exceptional" compared to other acne treatments and gave it the "Paula's Pick" award. If you have stubborn acne and your skin isn't very sensitive, this could be a good over-the counter option to try before heading to the dermatologist.
