Q:
What is the most expensive facial moisturizer?
A:
Some facial moisturizers, like Cle de Peau's Beaute Synactif Intensive Cream and La Prairie's Cellular Cream Platinum Rare, can cost as much as $1000 for less than 2 fluid ounces. However, spending a fortune doesn't guarantee that you are getting a well-formulated moisturizer free of irritants. In addition, some high-priced moisturizers (like the aforementioned) even come in jar packaging, which means that they are less sanitary and that they will become less effective over time as their contents are repeatedly exposed to light, air and bacteria. We really don't feel you have to spend any more than about $100 to get a great moisturizer. Some of the best expensive facial moisturizers we've come across for normal to dry skin include Dermalogica's Map-15 Regenerator ($85/0.3 fluid ounces) and Dr. Dennis Gross' Hydra-Pure Oil-Free ($78/1.0 fluid ounce). Nia24's Skin Strengthening Complex ($85/1.7 fluid ounces) is also a great moisturizer for drier skin, and B. Kamins' Calming Lotion ($75 /1.7 fluid ounces) is very well suited for sensitive skin.
