Overview
InStyle Magazine has recognized the Conair Infiniti 223x Tourmaline Ceramic Ionic Hair Dryer as one of the year’s "Best Beauty Buys" the last four years in a row. The 223x has most of the same great features as the higher-priced dryers at just a fraction of the price. It has a high-torque DC motor that is designed to make hair drying and styling fast and easy. The 223x combines two leading hair styling technologies: tourmaline ceramic and ionic. Both work to reduce drying time and damage, while improving shine and texture. It has 3 heat and 2 speed settings to suit different hair types and styles. You can find it on Amazon for around $25, and it is backed by a 3 year warranty.
Product Report Card Grade
We give Conair’s Infiniti 223x Tourmaline Ceramic Ionic Hair Dryer a B+ because it is an affordable hair dryer that features the same advanced technology used by more expensive professional models. We deducted points however because customers complained that it is louder and heavier than more expensive hair dryers. Some customers also felt that it had much a shorter lifespan.

Drying Technology
The Infiniti 223x has tourmaline ceramic coils that prevent damage to hair because they can distribute heat more evenly. The ionic generator also helps to reduce drying time and leave hair smooth and shiny.
While improved heat distribution reduces hair damage, a tourmaline-coated ionic generator substantially cuts drying time and seals the cuticle to lock in moisture and reduce frizz and static by 90%. One interesting bonus feature of the 4000i is that it has an ion switch, which you can leave on for smooth/straight hair or turn off if you want to add more volume.
In addition to providing improved heat distribution to prevent hair damage, the Carrera 2's ceramic ionic technology also reduces overall drying time and seals the cuticle to make hair silkier and shinier.

Tourmaline Ceramic Heat Technology
Tourmaline ceramic coils are better than metal coils because they generate full-spectrum, infrared heat and ions. Improved heat distribution reduces damage and ions smooth the cuticle to give you silky, shiny hair.

The 223x generates negative ions that fight flyaways, frizz and static electricity. The technology also works to split apart water molecules, which drastically reduces drying time. Tourmaline dryers are thought to create a higher number of negative ions than regular ionic dryer.
