Overview

As the #1 dentist-recommended toothbrush brand worldwide, Oral-B continues to provide us with the best tools in oral care with the ProfessionalCare SmartSeries 4000. The SmartSeries 4000 is a rechargeable electric toothbrush with a triple action brush head that Oral B says is clinically proven to clean teeth more effectively than its competitors. You can customize your brushing routine by choosing between 4 different modes (Daily Clean, Sensitive, Whitening, Deep Clean) and 9 possible brush heads (3 included with purchase). Additionally, the SmartSeries 4000 has built-in pressure sensors that alert you when you are brushing too hard. To ensure that you brush your teeth for the full dentist-recommended amount of time, the SmartSeries 4000 has a 2-minute timer that goes off in 30-second intervals to signal when it is time to change quadrants. With advanced clean power technology, the SmartSeries 4000 is effective in removing surface stains, reducing plaque and preventing and reversing gingivitis. Oral B claims you will see amazing whitening and polishing results in 3 weeks.

You can purchase the SmartSeries 4000 at multiple online retailers or at your local pharmacy. Full retail price is $130, but many websites have it on sale for $95 - $100.

Product Report Card Grade

We give Oral-B’s ProfessionalCare SmartSeries 4000 an A- because it features an impressive triple-action brush head that rotates, oscillates (8,800/minute) and pulses (40,000/minute) for a deeper clean in hard-to-reach places. It operates in 4 different cleaning modes and is compatible multiple brush heads, so you can customize your brushing routine as needed. Additionally, it helps to improve brushing techniques since it has a built-in timer and pressure sensor. We deducted a few points because it is expensive and because some users felt the brush head was a bit big and awkward when compared to the Sonicare models.

Love My Oral B Toothbrush
Review submitted: 2013-12-12
I have an Oral B electric toothbrush that was recommended by my dentist. I appreciate the firmness of the bristles; they are better quality than lower end electric toothbrushes I have previously used. It is powerful and leaves my teeth feeling quite clean. My only complaint is that it did not come with an additional brush head and the replacements are not available everywhere that I shop. I sometimes have to make a special trip to pick up replacement brushes. Other than that, I have no complaints. My advice to Oral B would just be to make sure to work with retailers to get replacement heads available in more retail outlets.

Oral B Power Toothbrush
Review submitted: 2013-10-03
My dental care routine consists of brushing my teeth in the morning after breakfast and in the evening before going to bed. I brush for a total of about 2 minutes each time and I make sure to get all of the front teeth first, then move around the outside teeth, then I brush the back sides of the teeth, lastly I get the top of the molars. After I have finished brushing my teeth, I will floss sometimes, and then I swish ACT mouthwash in my mouth for about 1 minute. I like how it is very effortless to clean my teeth and it feels like you are getting a dentist-type cleaning when you have a new brush head on the Oral-B power toothbrush. It is very easy to maneuver to all areas of my mouth and makes my mouth feel very clean when I am finished. It is very easy to put it back on the charger, so it is ready to go for the next time. One thing that I don't like is how there seems to be some sort of buildup on the bottom of the toothbrush (where it is charged) and on the charger part where the toothbrush is inserted. I'm not sure if it is toothpaste buildup or what it is? My main suggestion would be to find a way to stop that buildup from happening after the toothbrush is charged multiple times. Overall, I think it is a great toothbrush!
